Innocent 10-year-old caught in crossfire of drug dealer's conflict in France

French riot police are patrolling the troubled neighborhood of Pissevin in the southern city of Nimes following the killing of a 10-year-old boy, which is suspected to be a result of a conflict among drug dealers.

According to Euronews, the incident occurred when the family's car, carrying the boy, his younger brother, and their uncle, was shot at by unidentified individuals around midnight. Police believe the family was attacked mistakenly. This incident is part of a series of shootings linked to drug-related violence that has been plaguing several cities in southeastern France, including Marseille, Avignon, and Nimes.

Earlier Daryo reported that, in response to a rising tide of drug-related criminal activity that has resulted in the deaths of several dozen individuals since mid-July, the French government has taken the decision to deploy an elite police unit to Marseille.
