Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with Albert Johnson, the head of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe's Bureau of Democratic Institutions and Human Rights.
The topics of planning and hosting a referendum on revisions to the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan were discussed at the conference on April 20.
The president expressed delight that beneficial connections and open and constructive engagement with the OSCE had been established. Last year, the OSCE's chairman, Poland's Minister of Foreign Affairs Zbigniew Rau, and the organization's general secretary, Helga Schmid, as well as the High Commissioner for National Minorities Kairat Abdurahmanov, visited Uzbekistan.
Bureau professionals helped to modernize the country's national election system, particularly the creation of the Election Code. The suggestions provided at the conclusion of the National Election Commission's large-scale initiatives in Uzbekistan in 2016, 2019, and 2021 were taken into consideration and adopted.
During the discussion, participants shared ideas on how to organize the referendum to comply with high international standards. Albert Jonsson, the mission's leader, voiced his support for the process of expanding democratic changes in New Uzbekistan, which is represented in the country's amended Constitution.
