The III International Bakhshi Art Festival has officially begun in Gulistan, the capital of the Syrdarya region. The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has sent his warm greetings to all the event participants, Dunyo reports.
The head of state emphasized the significance of Bakhshi art, which is rooted in oral folk art, as it celebrates the noblest qualities of humanity and reveals one's inner world. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also noted that during these challenging times, the festival's life-affirming music and songs serve as a reminder that all countries and peoples on earth should strive to live in harmony, friendship, and cooperation.
Musical performers from more than 40 foreign countries and international organizations have gathered to showcase their talents at the festival. 64 performers, including ten local and 54 foreign artists, were selected from over 300 participants.
The winner of the Grand Prix will receive a generous prize of $7,000, while the first place in the two categories will be awarded $10,000 each. Third-place winners will receive $3,500.
This year, the festival of Bakhshi in Gulistan is being held for the third time, with the first two events taking place in Termez in 2019 and Nukus in 2021.
