The Kazakh government has allocated approximately $125,000 to create a new political and administrative map of the country, according to the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace Industry.
The funds were used to update the geographical maps of six regions, including newly established regions and those with changed borders.
Deputy Head of the ministry, Aset Turisov, explained that a political and administrative map of Kazakhstan was created on a scale of 1:1,500,000, while the maps of specific regions were developed on different scales. The process involved updating and creating maps for cities and regions, which required meticulous attention to detail and the collection of archival data.
The creation of the new map faced tight deadlines, but with the efforts of specialists and the support of associated enterprises, the task was completed on time. The accuracy of the maps was crucial, as they needed to accurately depict geographical features such as lakes, mountains, and forests, allowing border regions to understand their boundaries.
Turisov highlighted the importance of the cartography industry and the recent adoption of a law that has facilitated its development. The project aimed to provide an updated and accurate representation of Kazakhstan's political and administrative divisions, supporting effective governance and regional understanding.
