Aviation experts recently gathered in Astana to discuss reducing emissions and sustainable fuel production in Kazakhstan, media reports. The forum focused on transitioning to Jet A-brand fuel and the impact of geopolitical tensions on transit potential. Besides, the event aimed to improve flight safety and serve jet fuel market development.
It was noted that Kazakhstan's aviation industry is expected to contribute significantly to the country's economic growth, with the potential to produce fuel meeting international standards.
One recommendation made during the forum was for Kazakhstan to explore producing sustainable alternative jet fuel (SAF). This would increase domestic airports' attractiveness to foreign air carriers, especially as European air carriers plan to use SAF partially or fully by 2030. SAF implementation could also help reduce greenhouse gas emissions from aviation, contributing to climate change goals.
The forum concluded with attendees signing memorandums of cooperation and attending a training seminar.
