Uzbekistan expresses concern over North Korea's space missile launch

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan expressed its concern about the launch of a carrier space rocket by North Korea on May 31. The ministry’s press secretary, Akhror Burkhanov, wrote about it on his Facebook page.

“Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Uzbekistan expresses its concern over the launch of a space rocket by North Korea on May 31, which leads to a further escalation of tension on the Korean Peninsula.

We stand for the refusal to test all types of weapons of mass destruction in accordance with the obligations arising from UN Security Council resolutions.

Uzbek side will continue to firmly support active steps to ensure security on the Korean Peninsula for the sake of common prosperity and progress,” the spokesperson said.

 

The Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea revealed that North Korea had launched a missile at the south that morning, May 31. In this regard, Seoul residents were advised to get ready for evacuation and, first and foremost, "take children and the elderly to safe places" after receiving an air strike warning. After a while, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the nation declared that the warning issued by the city hall was "incorrectly organized."

North Korean had notified Japan earlier about the launching of a satellite in the coming weeks with Pyongyang providing Tokyo with a time period ranging from May 31 and June 11.
