Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov has named France as an active participant in the Ukrainian conflict, suggesting its stance may prevent it from being seen as a neutral moderator. This statement was made in response to French President Emmanuel Macron's proposal to host a peace summit on Ukraine in Paris.
Peskov said, "France is an active participant in the Ukrainian negotiations. It's difficult to classify France as a neutral state that could potentially play a moderating role, akin to Brazil, China, African nations, or the Vatican. France can't do this as it's already deeply involved in the negotiations and is allied with Ukraine. It's crucial for the French to recognize this," he concluded.
This stance implies that Russia sees France as too involved in the conflict to serve as a credible mediator in peace negotiations, potentially complicating efforts to resolve the ongoing dispute.
